Official translation
“You don’t have time to deal with bad quality documents”
What does an official translation mean?
An official translation is a translation created by an official translator or translation agency that certifies with a signature, a seal and a certificate that the content of the translation perfectly matches the content of the original document.
This kind of document is often needed for legal proceedings, for example:
- documents submitted to government institutions and authorities (e.g., birth certificate, certification of good conduct, school diplomas, document needed for vehicle registration, etc.),
- documents for studying or working abroad,
or documents needed for legal proceedings (e.g., contracts, court sentences, petitions).
In Hungary, certified translations can be issued only and exclusively by OFFI (Hungarian Office For Translation And Attestation Ltd., 1063 Budapest, Bajza u. 52., Hungary), for official use in Hungary.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get an official translation ready?
It mainly depends on the quantity of the text to be translated. In most cases, we can handle the translation within 1-3 working days. A simple document can be ready even within 24 hours. Translation of an exceptionally long or a specific field text requires a unique deadline. Please tell us in advance if you need the translation urgently.
How much does an official translation cost?
It depends on the volume, the language pair and text type (general or a specific field). Based on the documents received, we’ll give you a unique and easy-to-follow quote without hidden costs. We do not charge extra for the certification of translations.
In which format should I send the document?
We accept the document in any format; the point is that it should be readable. Even a scanned file or a photo can be sufficient (e.g., in PDF, JPG format) if the quality is good enough. We need the original documents only in a few select cases, for example if the end user requires that. We always attach the copy of the original document to the official translation.
How will I get the translation?
You can collect the official translation:
- in our office in person,
- via post or parcel delivery service,
- or via email in PDF format.
If you need a copy in a signed and sealed physical form (which is common), you can collect them in our office in person, or we can send them to you via post or a parcel delivery service.
Are you able to handle urgent translations?
Yes. We can handle urgent translations even within 24 hours – it depends on the type and the length of the document.
Into which languages do you translate official translations?
We can offer you an official translation to all European languages (the 28 of the EU + Ukrainian, Russian, Balkan and Scandinavian languages), Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Thai, Malay, Indonesian.
